Power of Attorney

Can I apply for a deposit account with Close Brothers Savings as a Power of Attorney?

Yes. As a Power of Attorney (POA) you can either apply for a new account or be added to an existing account.

    No products currently available.

If I’m a jointly appointed Attorney, can I apply for a savings account without the other Attorneys?

If more than one Attorney is appointed, the way in which you apply for a savings account, or register the Attorneys for an existing savings account, will depend on whether the Attorneys are appointed jointly or jointly and severally.

If the Attorneys are appointed jointly, all of the Attorneys must act together. For new savings accounts, we would require all of the Attorneys to sign the application form and provide the following details:

    •    The full name of all of the Attorneys
    •    The date of birth of all of the Attorneys
    •    The residential address of all of the Attorneys
    •    A certified copy of the Power of Attorney document or deputy order

For any instructions or requests relating to existing accounts, jointly appointed Attorneys must provide us with jointly agreed instructions.

If the Attorneys are appointed jointly and severally, one of the Attorneys may act alone. We would therefore accept an application form signed only by one of the Attorneys, which is to include the following details:

    •    The full name of the Attorney
    •    The date of birth of the Attorney
    •    The residential address of the Attorney
    •    A certified copy of the Power of Attorney document or deputy order

For any instructions or requests relating to existing accounts, a jointly and severally appointed Attorney can provide us with instructions on their own.

How do I register Power of Attorney for an existing deposit account?

We will need you to provide us with:

    • The Attorney’s full name
    • The Attorney’s date of birth
    • The Attorney’s residential address
    • A certified copy of the Power of Attorney document or Deputy order.

Once we've received the Power of Attorney document we'll carry out electronic identity and residency checks. If these checks aren't successful, we'll write to request proof of identity and residency.

What do I need to provide to open a new Power of Attorney deposit account?

We will need you to provide us with:

    • The Attorney’s full name
    • The Attorney’s date of birth

As the Power of Attorney, how do I know when the deposit account is open?

We'll send the Power of Attorney confirmation that the account has been set up.

As the Attorney, how do I manage the account?

You can call or write to us with questions or instructions

Can I apply for a Power of Attorney account online?
