Stay one step ahead of scammers

Fraud and scams are becoming increasingly sophisticated, but protecting yourself doesn’t have to feel overwhelming.

Whether you’re looking to learn the warning signs, pick up simple safety tips, or report something that doesn’t feel right, this is your trusted space for support. We’re here to help you feel confident, informed, and secure every step of the way.

Just a few ways we protect your savings

  • Two-factor authentication

Alongside your password, you enter a code sent to your email or mobile, giving your account a second lock.

  • Closed loop payment system

We only ever send money to the bank account you nominated when you opened your savings account.

  • Auto log out

We’ll automatically log you out after 15 minutes of inactivity to help keep your online account secure.

Take five to stop fraud

At Close Brothers Savings, your security really matters to us. That’s why we've partnered with UK Finance and their ‘Take Five to Stop Fraud’ campaign. Just taking a moment to follow a few simple checks can make a big difference in protecting both you and your money.

  • Stop. Think. Don’t share your personal or payment details until you’re sure it’s safe.
  • Challenge. Trust your instincts. It's completely okay to pause, say no or ignore anything that seems suspicious. If it's genuine, you won't feel pressured.
  • Protect. Don't stay silent. Raise and report your suspicions.

Some tips from us

Use strong, unique passwords

Create a password using three random words, they're harder to guess and easier to remember. Length matters most, but you'll still need to add numbers or symbols.

Using a password manager helps create and store unique passwords securely for all your accounts.

Make sure you're on a genuine website

Before entering personal or banking details: Check the web address carefully, look for https://, avoid clicking links in unexpected emails or texts.

Be careful using public Wi-Fi

Public Wi-Fi isn't always secure.

Avoid logging into Online Banking or sharing personal details on open networks. Use mobile data or wait for a trusted connection.

Keep your device up to date

Updates help protect you from the latest security threats.

Most devices update automatically, but it's worth checking yours is set up to do so.

Always log out

Always log out of online banking.

We'll log you out automatically if you forget, but making a habit keeps your information secure.

Stop if something doesn't feel right

Scammers often rush you, pressure you, or ask you to move money urgently.

Your bank will never ask for your full password or tell you to transfer money to a "safe" account.

If you're unsure, stop and contact your bank using a trusted number.
