How do I apply for a grant of probate?
If you have appointed a solicitor, they will make arrangements for the grant of probate and can contact us directly regarding any Close Brothers Savings deposits. If you’re taking care of the administration yourself, you can apply for the grant of probate at: gov.uk
Before you send it to us, you’ll need to notify us of the death in writing, enclosing the original or an official copy of the death certificate.
We’ll send you a valuation letter outlining the value of the deposit(s) held at the date of death and interest accrued, but not applied, along with an executor’s instruction form. You’ll then need to return this and the grant of probate to us. Please note, without the original or an official copy of the death certificate we won’t be able to provide the valuation letter.
